How Do I Run for Local Office?

Elections for the offices of mayor and city commission occur every odd year.  The mayor is elected for a two-year term and city commissioners serve a four-year term.

Candidate packets for local offices are available March 6, 2023, at the City Clerk's office.

Can I run for local office?

To qualify as a candidate, you must be:

  • at least 18 years of age 
  • a registered voter
  • a resident of the City for at least 365 days immediately prior to the last day of filing
