Tax Bills
Tax bills for real and personal property in the City of Mount Clemens are mailed twice a year. Millage rates are the same for real and personal property taxes.

Summer Taxes
Summer taxes are due and payable from July 1 - September 15 of each year without penalty. After September 15, a four percent (4%) is added to the unpaid balance of your tax bill. The summer tax bill combines the full annual tax levy for the City of Mount Clemens, Macomb Community College, State Education Tax, Mount Clemens Public Schools, L'anse Creuse Public Schools, Macomb County and MISD.
Summer tax notices are mailed out the first week of July of each year. If you do not receive a notice by mid-July of each year, please contact the City Treasurer's Office at 586-469-6818 ext. 1.

Winter Taxes
Winter taxes are due and payable from December 1 of one year to February 28 for the following year without penalty. After February 28 the taxes are sent to the Macomb County Treasurer's Office for collection and a 1% interest fee is added per month on the delinquent unpaid balance.
Winter tax notices are mailed out the first week of December each year. If you do not receive a notice by mid-December of each year, please contact the City Treasurer's Office at 586-469-6818 ext. 1.
Delinquent Taxes
On March 1 of each year, all delinquent real and personal property taxes are turned over to the Macomb County Treasurer. Additional penalties and interest are added by the Macomb County Treasurer. To verify the amount due, please contact the County Treasurer's Office at 586-469-5190.
Millage Rates and Principal vs. Non-Principal Residence Property
The total millage rate on principal residence (homestead) property in Mount Clemens is different than the rate for non-principal residence property, and each rate may change annually.
Taxable Value and Millage Rates
A property's taxable value (which is generally just under half of the property's market value) plus the millage rate for all taxing units in the City of Mount Clemens' jurisdiction determines what a property owner's taxes will be for the year.

Assessments
Assessments are determined as of December 31 of each year. Taxes are calculated based on the taxable value of a property on December 31.
