The City of Mount Clemens, in partnership with SAFEbuilt, provides building, rental, and vacant property inspections to ensure safety and compliance with current codes.
Building & Trade Inspections
If you are remodeling, adding onto your home, or working on a business property, licensed contractors within the State of Michigan must pull permits. Once permits are issued, the city’s staff of experienced inspectors will start the process of assisting you. Through the various inspections, the city will verify that work is being done according to current building codes. This is a distinct advantage to you, the homeowner, because you will be assured of receiving quality work and a safe final product.
Scheduling an Inspection
To schedule an inspection, email inspections@mountclemens.gov with the address, permit number, and requested date (at least 24 hours in advance of desired inspection date). Inspector availability depends on the inspection type needed:
- Building inspections: Monday–Friday
- Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical inspections: Tuesday–Thursday, 9–12 p.m.
- Trade inspector office hours: Tuesday–Thursday, 8–9 a.m. at City Hall
Inspection Payments
Inspections can be paid for through our online bill pay system, BS&A. Contractors must email a copy of their updated contractor’s license, driver’s license and the company name to bbaisden@mountclemens.gov to obtain their web pin for online permitting through BS&A.
